Five Local Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Getting your teen to give back

Volunteering is great opportunity for teens. It can help them make friends, learn new skills, gain practical job experience, and it's a fantastic extra-curricular to list on a college application. Many high schools, religious institutions, and scouting encourage or even require community service.

We have tons of meaningful and practical opportunities for teens to give back right here in Flushing, here's five:

Flushing CSA

Flushing CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a small farm share group that meets weekly in the heart of downtown Flushing. Volunteers assist with produce distribution.

Queens Botanical Gardens

The Queens Botanical Garden accepts teenagers 16 and older for various roles across their 39 acres in downtown Flushing.

Flushing Fantastic

Flushing Fantastic, the marketing and social arm of the Great Flushing Chamber of Commerce, accepts teen volunteers for marketing, social media, and event staffing positions.

Queens Library (various locations)

The Queens Library accepts teen volunteers 14 years and older where they can learn prioritizing and organizational management, customer service and public speaking, and multi-tasking and goal setting.

Lewis Latimer House Museum

Lewis Latimer was an inventor and innovator, as well as a poet. The museum that is his former home welcomes teenage volunteers.
